gallery VI Unconscious Drawings
Around 1995, modern Japanese Artist Mr. Kanji Wakae advised me to
'draw looking at nothing, and thinking of nothing'.
I, feeling stuck in my creative activities around that time,
put his advice in practice as A Hundred Drawings to Know Myself.
On practicing the drawings, I gradually discovered something inside of me,
and also something aspiring to be outside of me.
The results of these works have been one of the foundations for
my creative activities.
I selected 25 drawings from A Hundred Drawings to Know Myself to introduce on this occasion.

in French, but the word is also used to indicate paintings to release,
present or introduce. ‘Dessin’ or ‘esquisse’ indicate drawings of
exercise or training.
